Comber Community Garden

garden

An educational project conceived jointly by CRCP and Comber Horticultural Society on land surplus to the requirements of Ards Borough Council at Glen Road Link. The project involves provision of polytunnels and raised beds for growing flowers and vegetables and to fill hanging baskets and planters.

A detailed Business Plan was submitted to the Council outlining the CRCP proposals, together with letters of support from local schools. However these proposals were rejected when the Council decided to offer the land for sale on the open market. As no sale has yet taken place it is likely that any such action will pass to the new  Ards and North Down Council. An opportunity may still exist therefore to persuade the new Council to change this decision having regard to its new responsibility for Community Planning and the Government’s new Transfer of Community Assets Policy.

CRCP believes that its proposals represent the best opportunity to involve our community and local schools in a really worthwhile project
